Times are Hard

The Indianapolis Star is warning their employees over the intercom that 10 people are going to be relieved of their jobs by the end of the day. The security guards at the Rolls Royce plant had to start collecting resumes because there was an onslaught of people for their job fair. Indianapolis is being hit hard by the times we all just need to hang on and hope that in 09 things turn around. It will get better.

This year I'm working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but I can't complain. With all the cutbacks and layoffs it's good just to have a job.

What's wrong with this picture?

So I work in the dental field and I am so frustrated right now with insurance companies!!!! A patient came in the other day with a broken denture. I sent it to the lab to get fixed and the lab bill was $80. The insurance company pays me $75 and tells me I can't bill the patient for the difference. WTF????!!!!!!! So what they are telling me is that I just paid $5 to have this patient's denture fixed!!! So from now on I will refuse to fix dentures and send these patients away just because their insurance company hasn't raised their reimbursement rates since 1955!!!!!!!! Insurance companies are the biggest CROOKS out there!!! What makes me even angrier is that I told the patient before hand that he will have to pay the difference of what his insurance didn't pay and he even signed a paper stating that fact. But after he spoke with his insurance company he now says he doesn't have to pay. I told him I just paid out of my own pocket to fix his denture and he didn't care.

Cutbacks

Jan 29, 2009
Amy - Southside

I received some awesome news today at work! They have not only decided to implement uniforms, even on the weekends when no outsiders are allowed into the building, but also decided to cut our hours back to 34 a week! Yippee!! How much does anyone want to bet that the big wigs and upper management at this large company won't be taking a pay cut? What's also laughable is that supposedly our BIG boss said he is very upset that he has to do this but at least he is not laying people off. Well buddy I am sure you are shedding tears over this at night aren'tya? How about you stop hiring so many people that way you wouldn't have to cut hours? Or how about you shut down service on the weekends because I am assuming that would save a heck of a lot more money than taking hours away from us. I should be thankful I have a job, but what keeps creeping into the back of my mind is that I now have to apply for government assistance to get through. Wonder if my reduction in hours will do anything.

Indy Confluence is a waste of time

Feb 26, 2009
Twitter Head

I recently went to the Indy Conflunce meeting at the Manhattan off 82nd street looking to see how Twitter can help my business and maybe do some networking. Well thats not what happened. First of all the crowd was filled with old people trying to wrap their aging minds around twit pics and hash marks which lead to multiple questions and personal anguish. Second of all the panel was made up of hipster doofusses feeling ultra cool that they are being praised for their dorkyness. Only to top the dorks was the only lady on the panel that spoke as if she had roast beef in her mouth, and her long drawn out answers made you want to inflict pain on yourself. Third of all Indy Confluence is the retarded step child of 30 something networking groups that thinks its original and unique when ultimately it has nothing to offer and is a waste of time.

Indianapolis temp agency is shady

April 18, 2009
Debbie - East Side

Just because you're hurting for cash and you're doing everything you can to stay afloat it doesn't mean you should get worked over.

Employment Plus, an Indianapolis temporary employment service, screwed me bigtime. I had to pay an extra $25 for a drug test and $10 for a background check when I came in that they didn't even mention on the phone. Also, if you voluntarily end your assignment they will pay you less than what you are owed on your final paycheck. I have worked for a couple temp agencies in Indy and this was the worst service and lowest pay of them all. They're taking advantage of people and the times. Don't be a victim.
