The garbage men in broadripple are finally on time, however, now on trash day when I look down the street, it's littered with trash from the entire block. Maybe the garbage men hate waking up early, maybe they hate smelling like fish and diapers all day, or maybe they drive a Ford taurus... but it's no reason to treat your job and our environment like the garbage you see every day.
So the braodripple trash epidemic continues. Last friday the garbage men didn't pick up the trash because it was like -20 degrees. Now a week, 6 more bags, and 30+ degrees later the trash is still on the curb. I can understand not working when it's dangerously cold, but what about this week? The entire broadripple area has two weeks of garbage in front of their homes. Maybe I'll just tell the government it's too cold to pay taxes this year.
I'd like to think that the city is getting better about litter; both that the citizens are keeping up after themselves and the city is cleaning up after its citizens. Apparently not. As I was driving north on Keystone Sunday, between 52nd Street and Kessler, I drove through the most disgusting thing. It looked as if 3 trash bags spontaneously combusted over the street, emptying out their contents. I am being dead serious here. I was literally ashamed of my city as I had to drive through fluttering trash. C'mon Indy, is this what we are now? There is absolutely no excuse to have that large of an amount of trash littering a street. I mean, I get the random bottle on the curb. People are lazy, stupid, or just both. But entire boatloads of trash?? No wonder people complain about the people who live in Indy, we do nothing but perpetuate the image of disgusting-ness.
I was in the drive-through at Taco Bell today on the eastside, when I saw a pop can chucked out of the passenger window of the car in front of me. What the hell? I don't like Washington St much anyway cuz of the trashiness, but to see that simple, yet appalling gesture right in front of me just made me really mad. Where's the pride? What... the public outdoors is a more suitable place for trash than the inside of your POS '95 Cavalier? I hate to generalize the city by area, but it's jerks like you that encourage stereotyping. Sorry east Washington, but until I see people planting flowers instead of blatantly littering, you're the trashy part of the city.
So, after thinking all this and becoming completely disgusted with the people in front of me in just a couple minutes... you can imagine how delighted I was when they pulled away, and I saw the flat tire they'd be changing in the rain very shorty!
Why is there no legislation regarding how high home owners can allow their trees to grow? Winter is nearly here, and the little sun people could be getting is obscured by massive weed trees...aka Maples. I live in fear of neighbors trees coming crashing through my home during storms. C'mon...cut them short enough to allow people light into their lives! Surely insurance companies should enforce this...no trees within striking distance of a home. Makes sense! If neighbors have no insurance, what happens if one of their trees demolishes my home? Who pays?
